Alexandre Ralston BauHøgskolelektor
Alexandre is the founder of Ralston & Bau. He has a Master in Product & Furniture Design from the Art & Design School of Rennes in France (MA Design / EESAB).
He started his career in luxury retail and hospitality architecture in Paris where, in 2001, he founded the studio with Birgitta Ralston, swedish-american designer.
In 2003, he moved to the norwegian west coast, where he built a collaborative design centre that opened on the West coast of Norway in 2007: Transplant. Its 600m2 headquarter is designed by Attila Eris, Senior architect at Renzo Piano Studio at that time.
Since 2005, by creating Nordic Materials (innovative material network), he is engaged in material technology and sustainability within design and architecture. Alexandre was Evaluator for the European Commission and FP7 proposals and part of EU projects consortium, such as InnoMatNet. Merging high skills in conceptual and product design with deep interest in technological innovation and prospective research, Alexandre make sure all Ralston & Bau studio projects keep their competitive edge. Since August 2015, he is Assistant Professor at the Design Department of the Bergen Academy of Art and Design in Norway.

the Small Houses, or a new living metabolism
