KHiB and the artistic research project Topographies of the Obsolete invite to a seminar 29 September which explores the landscapes of the contemporary ruin and the archive. The speakers are Hildur Bjarnadóttir, Michelle Teran and Neil Brownsword from KHiB, and guest speaker author Marit Eikemo.
How important is colour for the visual perception of our urban environment and for the experience of its quality? What challenges do we face in our colour environment with new buildings, materials and façade-technologies? These questions and many more are the motivation for the exhibition"Colour in the city", open until 12 October. Mette L'orange, Professor at KHiB, is one of the exhibitors.

Tao G. Vrhovec Sambolec, Research Fellow at Department of Fine Art at KHiB, presents his sound intervention Heredrum 17 September at Torgallmenningen in Bergen. The sound intervention focuses its attention on the imperceptible and hidden rhythms of everyday walking by attentively observing, capturing and performing these rhythms on the spot of their occurrences.
Maria Blom is a third year bachelorstudent at Bergen Academy of Art and Design She experiments with the combination of painting, sculpture and installation.
In the solo exhibition which opened 4 September at USF Verftet Michelle Teran, Research Fellow at KHiB, presents the final artistic results of her research project "Future Guides: From Information to Home". Until 14 September she presents several artworks - Folgen, The Little Yellow House and Mortgaged Lives.
The exhibition Subjective systems, by Research Fellow Hildur Bjarnadóttir at KHiB, explores the characteristics of colours which on the one hand come from plants from Hildur's land in the south of Iceland and on the other from the industrially made colour system of acrylic paint. The exhibition opens 4 September at Kunstnerforbundet in Oslo.

Monday 25 August State Secretary Bjørn Haugstad and KHiB principal Gerd Tinglum will give the opening speeches at the launch of the new academic year for students, staff and external guests.
Eamon O'Kane, Professor of Visual Art at KHiB, shows the exhibition "And Time Begins Again" in Rom8 until 3 September. At the opening on 27 August Brandon LaBelle, Professor of New Media at KHiB, launched the book "Lexicon of the Mouth: Poetics and Politics of Voice and the Oral Imaginary". Based upon the collaborative partnership between Region Basse-Normandie and Hordaland County Council, the école supérieure d’arts & médias (ésam) de Caen/Cherbourg (France) will be welcoming a Norwegian visual artist for a three-month residency from 15 September to 15 December 2014. The application deadline is 27 June.
The expedition/reception will have limited service hours during the summer, and new regular service hours from mid-August.

The Norwegian Design Council, Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Royal Norwegian Embassy in London have chosen Bergen Academy of Art and Design (KHiB) as their main partner for 100% Norway in 2014.
The annual BA Degree Show takes place in four different galleries and showrooms in the city centre from 14 to 18 and 19 May 2014. Approximately 60 candidates show their exam projects. The exhibition opens 14 May at 4 pm in Marken 37.
