Jorunn Veiteberg conducts prestigious lecture
Jorunn Veiteberg, professor II and Head of the research project Art Value at Bergen National Academy of the Arts, has been invited to conduct The Peter Dormer Lecture 2011. The Peter Dormer Lecture is Britain's most significant annual crafts event. The lecture is conducted for an invited audience on 5 December 2011 at the Royal College of Art in London.

Group show "Bergen Timeline 2011" with KHiB alumni

The group show "Bergen Timeline 2011" is a retrospective show based on work by artists who share a history of having studied at Bergen National Academy of the Arts. KHiB alumni Heidi Bjørgan has curated the exhibition which is on till 20 November.

Michelle Teran and Duncan Higgins participate at "Tracing Mobility" in Berlin
Research Fellow Michelle Teran is taking part with her work "Folgen", and Associate Professor Duncan Higgins participate with a sculptural installation together with Frank Abbott at the "Tracing Mobility" exhibition from 24 November to 12 December, 2011. The exhibition is taking place at the Haus der Kulturen der Welt in Berlin.

Øyvind Suul to Norwegian Sculpture Biennal 2011
Associate Professor Øyvind Suul participates with the work "Catharsis" at The Norwegian Sculpture Biennal 2011. This is the sixth Biennal, and this is the fourth time that the Vigeland Museum and The Association of Norwegian Sculptors collaborate on the Biennal. Curator is Daniel Østvold. The Biennal is on until 5 February 2012 at the Vigeland Museum in Oslo

Group exhibition with Brownsword, Launder, Mydland & Suul
Neil Brownsword, Richard Launder, Anne Helen Mydland and Øyvind Suul, colleagues at Ceramics at KHiB, are showing their works at the exhibition "CONVERSATIONS: Brownsword, Launder, Mydland & Suul" from 18 to 24 November 2011. The exhibition will in many ways take the shape of a conversation between the four artists. Venue: Rom 8, Bergen.

New designers in the Design Inkubator at USF Verftet
Six KHiB alumnies are enrolled in the Design Incubator at USF Verftet from autumn 2011. All of them have an MA degree in Design from KHiB. They will be engaged in the Incubator programme for a minimum of three years. The programme is in collaboration with the Municipality of Bergen.

Galleri Fisk - KHiB's student-run gallery
Galleri Fisk opens new exhibitions every second week. The opening night is Fridays at 7 pm. Opening hours: kl. 12-4 pm Saturday and Sunday. Closed weekdays. Address: Kong Oscars gate 46, Bergen. The last part of the autumn programme 2011 is:

Publications

Jorunn Veiteberg (ed.): "Ting, Tang, Trash. Upcycling in contemporary ceramics"
The research project Art Value is coming to an end and organised the exhibition "Ting, Tang, Trash. Upcycling in contemporary ceramics" and the conference "Making or Unmaking? The Contexts of Contemporary Ceramics" in October. Project leader Professor Jorunn Veiteberg has now published an antholoty about the project in English and in Norwegian. Awards, Purchases and Commissions

Norwegian design group awarded First Prize at Designers Open in Germany
A group of 10 Norwegian design students from the four state owned design education institutions in Norway was awarded First Prize during the design fair Designers Open in Leipzig in Germany in October. Two of the team members were BA students of Design Martin Larsen and Martin Rygner from Bergen National Academy of the Arts.

ReDesign environmental award won by three KHiB-studentes
Lars Beller Fjetland, Vera Kleppe and Åshild Kyte, all design students at KHiB, received awards during BIR and Bergen municipality's environment competition ReDesign in October.

Research Fellow Forum: Hito Steyerl in conversation with Tone Hansen
Research Fellows Ellen Røed and Michelle Teran are organising a conversation between the artist Hito Seyerl and curator and writer Tone Hansen at Hordaland Art Centre in Bergen on 8 November.  They will show Hito Steyerl's documentary filmessays. Please register at hks@kunstsenter.no.

Design and dignity for frail, old people
Bergen National Academy of the Arts and The Dignity Center join forces in a seminar aimed at focusing on the needs of frail elderly persons. An interdisciplinary group of participants aim to challenge practitioners and decision makers in a seminar of innovative thinking in care. The seminar takes place 28 November in Bergen.

Portfolio day for BA applicants on 22 February 2012
KHiB invites potential BA applicants to come and get feedback on their portfolios and to receive information about what it takes to become a student at Bergen National Academy of the Arts. There will also be tours of the Academy. Date: 22 February 2012.

Application information for BA and MA studies, the practical-pedagogical education and the curating study programme are available on khib.no from 1 December.

This is Bergen National Academy of the Arts (KHiB)
Bergen National Academy of the Arts (KHiB) in Norway offers three year BA and two year MA study programme in addition to further education and life-long learning in art and design. KHiB also has research fellows in the Programme in Research Fellowships in the Arts (PhD level). KHiB offers studies in the following: Visual Communication, Furniture- and Spatial Design/Interior Architecture, Photography, Printmaking, Ceramics, Textiles, and Fine Art. In addition there is a part-time study programme in Curating and a one-year course in Practical Pedagogical Education. KHiB has 325 students and around 100 staff members.
